Chocolate Covered Caramels
Cooler weather is here and that means our chocolate covered caramels are available for shipping again! If you've missed these yummy treats, we've changed the way we're offering them. Previously you could only purchase them in a package of 8. But now, we are wrapping them individually in candy foil wrappers and you can purchase them individually or get a discount for purchasing 5 or 10 at a time.

And if you're a "nutty" kind of person, we also have them available with pecans. These chocolate covered caramels with pecans are called "Mikeys" here at the farm.
If you order both versions (with or without pecans) you can distinguish them with their wrapper colors.

|
The orange candy foils are used to wrap the Mikeys and the red foil candy wrappers are used with the "no nut" version of the chocolate covered caramels.

Toffee
Our toffee is also back! It is available in an 8 oz size. The individual toffee pieces come in various sizes. We start with our goat milk toffee, cover it in semi-sweet chocolate, and dip it in a blend of nuts. The toffee is somewhat crunchy and sticky and not recommended for braces or dentures.

Winter Shipping is Back!
And that means two great things. First - many of our candies are back. And second - our cheese and fudge prices are lower!
You can now order 2 cheeses for $30 (instead of $35), 4 cheeses for $55 (instead of $65), and 8 cheeses for $85 (instead of $100). Don't worry - your cheese still ships with insulation and ice packs, just not as many! You can still order just 1 cheese, but we don't recommend it as 1 cheese costs $25 and 2 cheeses costs $30.
Fudge prices are $8 each. These do not ship with insulation or ice packs during the cooler weather months.

Breeding season is here! And since I can't show you pictures of that (we are family-friendly LOL), here is a video of Hewitt, Indigo, and Jade feeding baby goats 3 years ago. We had 34 baby goats born in 2013, and will have well over 100 born this year!

Homestead Happenings
Fall is here and that means several things on the farm - putting the garden to bed and prepping it for next year, breeding season, and getting ready for winter.
The garden is getting several new layers of rabbit manure and mulch so it'll be all ready for Spring planting. We're still harvesting peppers and tomatoes, even though our freezer is overflowing with them, and we're getting ready to process our last batch of basil pesto. The potato beds have been harvested, and we've got a shelf full of potatoes in the garage. It was a good growing season here!

When the nights turn cold, the goats come into heat. If you've visited the farm recently, you may have smelled something a bit pungent - that would be the bucks attracting the does. We're breeding 86 does this year, so it's been a bit chaotic as we manage five pens full of goats - three different pens of does (that all need to be milked) with a buck in them, the does we're not breeding, and the bucks that we're not currently using. We're going to have a bunch of babies in five months!

Fall also means cross country season for the Jonas children. The younger seven run with our local homeschool team, and Brett is the team photographer.
While they're all doing well, it's Colter's senior year, and he's been doing his best to make it a great one. He led his team with a third place finish at the last meet and we're all super proud of how he encourages his teammates as well.
|
|
|
There's only a couple of meets left this season before we head to Missouri for the Homeschool Cross Country Nationals. We were #1 in 2014, then sank to #2 in 2015 - but Colter is determined to reclaim the title of #1 before he leaves the team. Regardless of how the competiton plays out, it is wonderful to have them all together on a team that understands that while the objective is to win the race, the purpose is to glorify Jesus. It is a joy to be a part of their doing so!
