Discounted Soap Pieces

It's soap pieces time again!

We've been collecting them and have a bunch of discounted soap pieces available while supplies last.  These are small, ugly, or end pieces of soap that are combined into 4 oz bags.

Olive Oil Soaps

We have always had a few olive oil soaps available for people with allergies to the ingredients (particularly coconut oil) in our soaps. The olive oil soaps either contain just organic extra-virgin olive oil (the organic castile soap), or they have castor oil added as well (calendula and chamomile soaps).

These olive oil soaps are a completely different formula than all of our other soaps.  They are very mild and instead of the bubbly lather of our regular soaps, they have a creamier, more lotion-like lather.  They also don't last quite as long as our regular soaps since they are made with softer oils.

People will sometimes get confused between the olive oil soaps and our regular soaps and wonder why the lather is different.  To clarify this, we are making three changes.  We have added "Olive Oil Soap" to the title of each of these olive oil soaps.  So when you are looking for them, you need to scroll down to "olive oil" instead of the name of the soap.

We are also increasing the size of the organic castile soap (so you get more soap) and increasing the price of all the olive oil soaps to $8 per bar.  We're hoping that the title and the different price will distinguish the olive oil soaps from our regular soap line.

We are also adding three new scented soaps to the olive oil line.  These include Spearmint Lime, Grassy Tea, and Thieves Defense.

Organic Castile

As mentioned, we are increasing the size of our organic castile soap bar and raising the price to $8 to be in line with all of our olive oil soaps

We still have have many of the smaller size organic castile bars in stock.  These will remain at $6.50 while supplies last.  The larger $8 organic castile size will not be available until the smaller size has sold out.

Thieves Defense

Many people have asked us for a soap made with a "4 Thieves" essential oil blend.  Because the name is trademarked, we are calling our soap "Thieves Defense" and making it available as an olive oil soap so that as many people as possible can use it.

Mother's Day

We wish everyone a wonderful Mother's Day!  We've once again made our Strawberries & Champagne goat milk soap available in time for Mother's Day.  We also have a Strawberries & Champagne discounted Twin pack available (see details below).

If you place your order by midnight on Tuesday, May 8th, we will guarantee to ship it out by Wednesday, May 9th.  If the post office does its part, your order will arrive by Saturday in time for Mother's Day.
It may just be me, but I don't think this will ever get old.

Goat Yoga

We are continuing to offer goat yoga during the months of May and June.  Yoga will be on specific Saturdays at 3:00 pm.  Due to scheduling conflicts, we cannot guarantee that a certified yoga instructor will be available to teach the class.  If one is not available, I (PJ) will be leading the class.

While I'm not certified, I have been doing yoga for ten years and often lead my family through yoga exercises.

Yoga with the goats is an incredible way to relax, take care of your body, and enjoy time with the goats.

The class is for all levels (including for those who have never tried yoga).  Upcoming available dates are May 12, May 19, June 9, and June 23.  You can see the goat yoga page for details.

Yoga with the goats brings smiles and laughter and joy to our hearts and we felt very blessed by the event.

Events on the Farm

As the farm continues to grow, there are more events available:

We hope you'll be able to visit us on the farm to enjoy one (or more) of these experiences!
Chicken Processing Class

Mason and Colter are offering a chicken butchering and processing class on Sunday, May 20th, at noon.

There are only 10 slots available and those who participate will be able to take 2 of the chickens they've processed home with them.  Please see the event page for more details.

If this is something you are interested in, but can't make this class date, please let them know.  This information will help them to decide whether or not to offer further classes in the future.

Employment Opportunities

We are still understaffed and looking for help on the farm.  We need year-round help that is available in the mornings either 8-5 for full-time or 8-2 for part-time.  We are not looking for any after-school or summer-only help at this time.

Potential employees must not be afraid of hard work, getting their hands (and clothes and shoes) dirty, and doing whatever work is needed (even if it isn't in your job description).  All employees must be able to deal with customers with a smile and show up on time. We do not have any housing available.

If you are interested, please check out the GMS Jobs page for more information.

Shipping Food

Because we are still understaffed, we have been working hard at stream-lining our operations, improving our efficiency, and eliminating tasks and jobs that don't serve our core customers.  As a part of this effort, we've made the difficult decision to discontinue shipping any of our food products.

With the summer months approaching, it gets more expensive to safely ship our food items due to the summer heat.  And because shipping food is not one of our core services, it is something that we feel we need to discontinue at this time.

We apologize to all of you who are going to miss all the yummy food we have been shipping to you in the past.  It will all still be available here on the farm.  We know many of you are not close enough to come and pick it up.  But we only ever want to offer products and services that we can be proud of.  And with the way many of our food packages are beat up on delivery, it's not something we can continue to do with pride.

Thank you for understanding!

Newsletter Special

The May newsletter special is a discounted Strawberries & Champage Twin Pack in honor of Mother's Day. These are only available while supplies last and must be purchased at this link.  There is a limit of 10 per person.

Baby Goats for Sale

I currently still have some baby Alpine goats for sale.  Plus we have 7 Alpines that are due in May and so we will be adding even more to the for sale page as they are born.

Our Nigerian Dwarf herd is still growing and we don't have any babies available for sale right now.  But I currently have 3 confirmed pregnant Nigerians and we have bred several more.  So if you don't mind the anticipation of waiting several months, you can place deposits on Nigerians on the Nigerian page of the goat website.

The goat website - https://gmsgoats.com is still a work in progress.  We have a few hundred goat photos to take once the weather gets nicer and the farm "greens up".  Once I have those photos, I'll get the remaining goats and goat photos on the website.

Homestead Happenings

April was a busy month on the farm, as always!  The goats are enjoying being out on the green grass again.

Lunch service continues to be busy and popular.

Mason and Jim served our Chicken Pesto sandwiches and loaded potato soup at a CASA fundraiser.  We won "Best of Taste" for the entire event and were thrilled that our food was so enjoyed! Join us for an award-winning lunch Mon-Sat from 11-1.

We had the birth of another baby Nigerian Dwarf buckling - Fastball.  He was actually a twin, but his mom delivered the babies in the middle of the night and didn't lick his sibling out of the sac, so the baby drowned and was lost.  It's always heartbreaking, but we 're thrilled that Fastball is doing so well.  He was born at 1 pound 13 oz and is already over 3 pounds at one week old!

He's been hanging out with everybody and kept me company while I was gardening.

Despite the cold weather this spring, we have plants in the ground and asparagus growing.  We've got fruit trees and strawberries blossoming.  We're also doing some finishing touches on the garden and putting in some more raised beds.

We had a family wedding in Florida.  Four of the children (Brett, Colter, Fletcher, and Greyden) chose to stay on the farm, so the rest of us could attend the wedding.  It was a super fast drive down, enjoy the wedding, and drive back, but it is always wonderful to see family and we're super excited for the newlyweds.

We also took the family to see Les Miserables in Louisville.  It was Indigo and Jade's first time, and they loved it.  It was probably the strongest ensemble that we've ever had for a Les Mis performance and it was wonderful.

I had a few speaking engagements during the month.  I got to speak to the Optimist Club in Jeffersonville as well as the Professional Women's Network in Scottsburg.  Both were well received and it always makes me happy to share what God has done in my life and what He has been teaching me. Although I've been speaking to small groups for years, my first big conference is coming up. I am praying that I'll not only inspire people to "Free The Dream," but give them some helpful tools as well.

April also brought a LOT of school and large group tours.  Jim is an awesome tour guide and Mason and Emery pitch in to help when the groups are large enough that they need to be split up.

We also really enjoyed our goat yoga events.  Colter even joined us for one! (Yes, all my boys do yoga.)

Life on the farm continues to be wonderful and full of lots of hard work and a few surprises each day.  God is very good to us and we are so thankful for everything we get to experience!
We wish everyone a wonderful Mother's Day!

As always, we thank you so much for all of your support of our family and our business!
