Discounted Soap Pieces

Last month (May) we offered discounted soap pieces.  These are small, ugly, or end pieces of soap that are combined into 4 oz bags. Most of the available scents are gone, but the remaining discounted soap pieces are available while supplies last.

Olive Oil Soaps

We have always had a few olive oil soaps available for people with allergies to the ingredients (particularly coconut oil) in our main line of soaps. The olive oil soaps either contain just organic extra-virgin olive oil (the organic castile soap), or they have castor oil added as well (calendula and chamomile soaps).

These olive oil soaps are a completely different formula than all of our other soaps.  They are very mild and instead of the bubbly lather of our regular soaps, they have a creamier, more lotion-like lather.  They also don't last quite as long as our regular soaps since they are made with softer oils.

Last month we added three new scented soaps to the olive oil line.  These include Spearmint Lime, Grassy Tea, and Thieves Defense.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful fathers out there!  As he does every year, Jim crafted a soap just for Dads.  We call it Destinations and this year it is a masculine blend of cool, misty forest air and rushing mountain streams that is reminiscent of a temperate rainforest.

If you are ordering for Father's Day, orders placed by midnight on Tuesday, June 12, will ship out on Wednesday.  And if the post office does its part, your order will arrive by Saturday, June 11, in time for Father's Day.

You can get this special Destinations soap individually or as a special Father's Day gift pack
Shipping

Since we began offering free U.S. shipping two years ago, USPS shipping costs have risen over 20%.  We are unfortunately left with the choice to raise the prices of our soaps or to raise the minimum amount for free shipping.

After much prayer, we believe that raising the minimum amount (from $30 to $50) to receive free shipping is better than raising prices for the majority of our customers.  And since Amazon increased the cost of Amazon Prime 20% a few weeks ago, we believe this is not only the right decision, but the right timing as well.

Starting June 1st, our shipping prices will be as follows:

Order Subtotal                   Shipping Cost
$0 - $6.50                            $3.18
$6.50 - $13.00                     $3.82
$13.00 - $19.50                   $4.94
$19.50 - $45.00                   $6.35
$45.00 - $50.00                   $6.90
$50+                                    Free U.S. Shipping

Please be aware that these are our EXACT shipping costs.  We are not charging any shipping and handling fee, nor are we adding anything into this fee to cover the cost of tape, bubble mailers (for small orders), printing labels, paper, toner, or labor.
Free Shipping Coupons

Because we recognize that for many people, the $50 free shipping threshold is high, we are planning to regularly offer coupon codes for free shipping at lower minimums such as $30.

To receive these discount coupon codes, you must remain signed up for the newsletter.  We will sometimes include these discounts in the newsletter and sometimes send them out in a separate email. We can't send them to you if you have not given us permission to email you (which you do when you sign up to receive the newsletter).
Bulk Soap Discounts

Because coupons can sometimes be difficult for people to use (who hasn't forgotten to enter in the coupon code on an order?), we have two bulk soap discounts that are available at all times without a coupon.

Bulk Soap Discounts
If you purchase 5 Full bars of the same scent, you can receive an 8% discount.
If you purchase 10 Full bars of the same scent, you can receive a 10% discount.

The Bulk discounts are available for the same scent only.  They are not available if you mix and match scents.

These discounts are located in the drop-down menu for each individual soap scent.  You must choose this discount from the drop-down menu.  The discount will not be applied at checkout.

Remember, we put these discounts into place so you can save money without having to wait for a discount coupon.  We always encourage you to take advantage of them!
June Giveaway

This month we're giving away a gift certificate for $25 off your order at goatmilkstuff.com! You can find the entry widget here.

Since you're already signed up for the newsletter, all you have to do to get your first entry is put the email address that you used to subscribe to this newsletter in the widget. It's that easy! Congratulations to Lauren Bowling who won the May giveaway!

Newsletter Special

We have two specials available this month!  The first special is a free shipping coupon for orders that are $30 or more.  Just use the coupon code "Free30".

The second special is a discounted Father's Day gift pack.  This gift pack includes a bar of Destinations soap and a bug out spray.  We have these packs discounted to $7 while supplies last.  There is a limit of 10 per person.

Goat Yoga

We have one last goat yoga class available this June 9th at 3pm Eastern.  Since we don't have any climate controlled rooms for yoga with the goats, it simply gets too hot for the people and goats to enjoy in the Summer.  We thought about doing yoga in the woods, but we still have poison ivy in the woods and don't want to risk anybody being exposed.

The class is for all levels (including for those who have never tried yoga).  There is still room in the class and you can see the details and sign up on the goat yoga page.
New Lunch Hours

If you're local or planning to visit us from out of town, you now have an extra hour to take advantage of lunch at Goat Milk Stuff.

Lunch will be served from 11am - 2pm (instead of 1) Mondays - Saturdays.  We'll also be expanding our menu some at some point in June.

The menu can always be seen at https://gmstogo.com and if you are local, you can save time and place your order online for pickup.

Milking Goats for Sale

Now that all of the Alpine goats have given birth, we have decided to make some milkers available for sale since we only want to milk 96 for the year and we're over 100.  Since our milking machine system milks 16 at a time, we save time milking if we don't go over 96.

You can see which goats are available and get more details on the GMS Goats website at the Milkers for Sale page.

We also have some Alpine doelings available as well.
New "Kid" on the Farm

We are thrilled to announce that there's a new "kid" coming to the farm!

Baby Werst is due November 30th, and we are all so excited! Everyone except Fastball, that is, who doesn't want to give up his status as favorite kid. ;)

Brett is feeling okay, most of the time, but she is looking forward to the end of the first trimester in a few days.

Brett and Mason have decided that they are not going to share the gender until after the baby is born, so we're all going to have to wait until late November/early December to find out if it's a boy or girl. Either way, we're all so excited for the #werstbabyever!

Homestead Happenings

May passed by in a blur!

We kept the construction crew busy, setting up our new garden beds and an automatic waterer in the middle of the goat pastures.

We are expecting a bumper crop of blackberries, and are looking forward to our summer breakfast of blackberries with (or without) goat milk yogurt.  Visitors to the farm early in the morning will often find most of the Jonas children standing in the blackberry patch eating their breakfast!

We also make lots of blackberry jam for ourselves and to sell.  Since the blackberries aren't ready yet, we started with Strawberry Rhubarb jam and Pineapple Jalapeno jam.  The peppers, the rhubarb and some strawberries are all from our garden, but the pineapple is from the store since we haven't yet figured out how to grow pineapples in Indiana.

All the jams are super yummy and our favorite way to eat the Pineapple Jalapeno jam is to put some on top of our plain chevre goat cheese and eat it with crackers.

Even though things were busy on the farm, we managed to take off for a little bit of fun - seeing Wicked in Indianapolis and going to the Beach Boys concert in Louisville. The second photo is us standing with Mike Love - one of the original Beach Boys.

We had a bunch more baby goats born in May. Fastball was joined by Torpedo & Tigger and Emilio & Empire.  So there are 5 little Nigerian Dwarf boys running around the farm.  They're super fun to play with if you come and join us for a Baby Goat Experience.

We also had the last of the 2018  Alpine births.  Most of the babies have already gone to their new home, but a few are still on the farm.  Those born were Tad Lincoln & Tea Cake, Seasonal & Saxophone, Celery & Cilantro, Zade & Zepland, Pooh & Piglet, Jingle & Jangle, and Roxanne!  You can visit our Facebook page and see them on our Facebook Live videos.

That puts 2018 as a record year for us with 202 baby Alpines born -  Wow!  We are planning to milk more goats through next year - which means we don't breed them for the year - so 202 might be a record for us for a while.

We also had a few sets of baby bunnies born!

Our Mayor took Jim, Greyden, and Emery shopping for trees to put along the bike path that runs in front of our farm. We spend a lot of time on that path and are looking forward to when the trees are grown enough to provide shade!  They really do make the entire bike path (our neighbors also got trees) look really pretty.

It's been a season of growth on the farm, and we are looking forward to the rest of the summer.  We hope you all take advantage of the extra sunlight hours during the summer to enjoy this time with your families.
We wish everyone a wonderful Father's Day!

As always, we thank you so much for all of your support of our family and our business!

The Jonas Family

Jim, PJ, Brett, Colter, Emery, Fletcher, Greyden, Hewitt, Indigo, and Jade
